BRIGHTON THEATRE FESTIVAL

26 February 2011

Congratualations to Harri for representing Pointers so well at the Brighton dance festival.  We had never been to the festival before so it was good to compete against some new names.  The standard was high accross the festival.  First Harri did her new contemporary in the modern section and got 3rd place with 85 marks.  Then she entered the modern championships.  This standard was phenominal.  Harri did her disco solo and gained 3rd place again with 86 marks.  The last section of the day was song & dance where Harri got 2nd place with her 'Dont Rain on my Parade'.Day 2 of the festival saw harri winning first place in the character section with 'Jeremy Fisher' with 87 marks.  Tap didnt go quite so well and harri didnt receive a place.  But it was a lovely festival and I would definitely take more pupils back next year to represent Pointers.Well done Harri!

We have just completed Beckenham festival for this year.  We have had a good festival as the standard has been extremely high.  We started the festival on day 2 with Sammy ding her lyrical dance and getting 83 and 4th place special mention.  The same day saw the contemporary sections split into different age groups.  In the 13 year olds Caragh came 2nd with 85 marks, and Harri 3rd with 84, and Hannah & Codie both 4th with 83.  Evelyn won the 15 year old age group with 84 and in the 16 & overs Taylor did a very impressive dance also gaining 85 marks and 2nd place, with Drew close behind with 3rd and 84 marks. The following weekend saw day 3 where Holly got 2nd place with her lyrical with 84 marks.  And day 4 was the turn of the under 12 choreography solos where we swooped the section with Lauren getting 1st with 87, Holly 2nd with 86 and Phoebe 3rd with 85.Day 5 on the 3rd weekend and it was the 13 & overs choreography solo which saw Evelyn getting 2nd placce with 86 and Caragh and Danielle getting joint 4th with 84.  Day 6 was another impressive day.  It started with Lauren getting 4th with 84 for her modern solo in a section of 28 children.  Then came the 13 year old modern section, with a standard that was higher than at any other festival.  I was blown away by all 23 in the section, and then Harri got 3rd with 86 (taking her through to the all England semi finals) and Danielle got 5th with 84.  Harri also got 3rd with 84 for her lyrical.Well done everyone who took part in the festival.  You represented the school very well, as always.
